Weigh in Wednesday

Good morning! Welcome to weigh in Wednesday! Grab a button and link up with us!
Ok so this week has been just kind of meh. I have been doing my workouts pretty faithfully but my eating has been less than great. Story of my life really. Either one is good or the other. Not both.

Casey and I went away on Friday for my MRI, to pick up my mom, and then we stayed away for the night since it's the last chance we will get for a while. Lobster fishing starts today so he's going to be super busy buying/storing/selling lobsters until basically Christmas.

We ended up getting some sushi for lunch on Friday. That may have been a bad idea. I felt so bloated after that, my hands and feet felt swollen. Too much salt for me.

Anyway. We went shopping for a bit andr then checked into our room. We got dressed up and went out to Thandis for dinner. It was Chop Chop week in Saint John so all the uptown restaurants were serving special meals. Mine was a shrimp curry and it was WAY too spicy for me. I love curry but not that spicy. It didn't even say it was hot on the menu. Oh well. It was fun to go out together.

I got back on track on Sunday. We didn't get home until Saturday night so yeah. I am happy that I jumped right back on track instead of being bad for days on end.

After the weekend trip I was over 171. I am down to 167 so I'm still working on getting rid of some salt. Not too bad though! I'll take it since it's our last trip away together.

Weigh-in Wednesday!

Harper Cat and the Crazy Cat Lady
I can't say that this has been my best week. I let my mental exhaustion and emotions get in the way of my progress. I honestly didn't even have an excuse other than that. I just didn't get it done. Then, on halloween we went totally bananas with the candy and I didn't even try to stop myself.

Our friend at work.
Anyway. I finally got my head back on straight come Monday morning. I am mostly happy to report that I only had a 0.6 lb gain after my 4 day laziness. Putting me at 165.4. It didn't look good on the scale on Monday but I knew it was a lot of salt and I hit the water pretty hard and it came down fine.
As for workouts, well, I got Thursday and Friday in just fine. Saturday and Sunday were write offs. Monday I went to go to hockey and realized I had misplaced my hockey pants, so that didn't go well.
Yesterday I did my PiYo workout in the morning and then went to bootcamp in the evening.
Glad to be back on track!

Weigh in Wednesday

I'm a little late getting this posted but please grab a button and link up with some like minded health and fitness bloggers!
So! This week I was a bit nervous of how things would go after the Shakeology cleanse. I gained a couple pounds right off the batt when I started on my regular 21 Day Fix portions. I think it was just from actual volume of food. Anyway.

I made a big mistake on the weekend. I went into a store starving and came out with Halloween candy. The horror! After that total blood bath, I settled down okay and was still able to be down 0.5 pounds to 164.8.

As for workouts, I've been doing my PiYo schedule. Plus, I have gone to hockey whenever I can and I actually signed up for boot camp on Tuesday nights. That was fun and a great workout! I even went for a quick run on Monday evening and had no trouble at all running a km without stopping. That's huge for me.

I'm pretty much just moving forward as best I can. I am happy with that. Slow and steady right?

Weigh in Wednesday & Excitement!

It's time for Weigh in Wednesday! Grab a button and linkup with some other lovely bloggers who are sharing their journey to health and fitness!
Ok, so it's no secret that I've been struggling lately. I have lacked consistency. I have not been eating well and I didn't seem to be able to dig myself out of the spiral that was leading to slow and terrifying weight gain.

Last week I recommitted. I want to live a consistent healthy lifestyle. I want to lose the last of my weight. I want to be fit and healthy, and feel good.

I started it off with a Shakeology Cleanse. I did it over the weekend, and I'm so glad I did. I've never done a cleanse of any kind before, so it was all very new to me. If you've never heard of this cleanse, it's basically 3 Shakeology servings, plus 2 servings of fruit at various times thorough the day, plus one healthy meal like a salad with lean protein.

I modified a bit. I was working all night Friday night, so I cheated a tiny bit and had coffee. Instead of having a salad, I had squash, broccoli and chicken.

Overall I felt really good. I wasn't starving and I seemed to have plenty to eat. I did my a couple of PiYo workouts and went to hockey as well. I seemed to have lots of energy and felt fine.

The result of my 3 days of discipline was a 4.8 pound loss. I'm really happy with that, now I'm just trying to stay on the 21 Day Fix meal plan and keep losing.

I started the cleanse out at 168.8 and I was down to 164 on Monday morning. My normal weigh in is Tuesday morning, and I was 164.4.

At the same time I recommitted to my eating plan, I committed to finishing PiYo. I'm currently on day 6, and going strong. I know I'll mess up and it won't be perfect but I'm going to get it done!

So why am I so excited? If you don't follow my Facebook, you won't know, but I got my invite off of the waitlist for the 2015 Beachbody Success Club Cruise! I found a friend to go with and I've put down the deposit, and booked flights! It's happening!! THAT'S why I'm excited!

I don't think there could be a much bigger motivator to get the last bit of weight off than the chance of meeting the people who create the videos I work out to. I really hope I can meet Chalene Johnson! She's my soulmate trainer. I LOVE her!

So! Don't forget to link up! Can't wait to read about everyone's progress!

Universal Studios 2015 & Halloween Horror Nights!

Ok so I'm so behind on blogging. I'm sorry. I promised an update on this trip and here it finally is!

As usual, we leave the island the day before, shop for the last couple things we might need, go to bed early and get up at 3:30 am to get to the airport at 4. Our flight left at 5:15 to Toronto.

We didn't have much time there. We did end up getting Starbucks and eating that on the plane. Thankfully because that tiny pretzel package wasn't going to do much.

We arrived in Fort Lauderdale at around 11. We actually found our friends in the airport. We were in separate shuttles, so met again in the lobby of our hotel.

We stayed at the Lowes Royal Pacific right on the Universal grounds. It was a really nice hotel with a nice pool and our room was lovely.

We spend that day wandering around City Walk, eating and shopping. We even spent some time at the pool, soaking up some vitamin d before it becomes unavailable in Canada!

We ate at a place called the Cowfish. It was awesome. I loved it. I cannot wait to have sushi again! Yum!!

We went to bed pretty late that night, considering all we had planned for the next day!

We got up early on Saturday to take advantage of our early park admissions. We were able to get into the Wizarding World of Harry Potter an hour earlier than the general public. Which means 7 am. We did it though! We had breakfast at the Leaky Cauldron and it was really tasty! I had the Mushroom and Leek Pasty. I'd like to have one now! Haha!

We spent the day wandering between both parks, riding all the rides we wanted to do, some more than others. We rode the Dragon Challenge coaster a total of 8 times between both days. We did Ripsaw Falls and the Jurassic Park ride and I got totally soaked. We went to eat after that, and I was still soaking wet after that, so we went back to the hotel so I could change. It's pretty convenient to be on the resort that's connected to the park!

I'd say that my favourite rides were obvoiusly the Dragon Challenge, plus the Gringotts ride, the Hogwarts ride, and the Mummy. I wish the Hulk was open, but it is closed until next summer. We referred to it as the coaster that must not be named the whole trip. It's a good ride too!

My least favourite was hands down the Shrek one. Come on Universal. Seriously. And Twister. How old is that 'ride' anyway??

On the Mummy ride, I lost my glasses after the first couple quick turns, but somehow Erin caught them between her feet. It was a miracle, because I needed those things! It was sunny!

I'm not sure we even had an official dinner that night. We had ice cream every day from Cold Stone. Yum!

That night, was probably the best night ever. I'm a TOTAL Harry Potter fan, so this is going to sound totally stupid to pretty much everyone else, but we all got Butterbeer and sat against the wall and waited for the sun to set and the lights to come on in Hogwarts. That part of the park is SO well done it looks amazing. I realize it's not as big as it looks, but they are pretty stinking smart to be able to make it look so good. Also, we were really tired, and sitting was nice!

I hadn't seen Diagon Ally yet, and it was awesome! I loved going in and out of the shops and looking at everything. It was so well done! They even had Knockturn Ally! And the Knight Bus! And the people who work there are in character! I was seriously considering quitting my job and going to work at Hogwarts. Incidentally, I told Harper I was going to Hogwarts when we left on this trip, and now she thinks I work at Hogwarts and asks me if I'm going there every time I go to work.

We went to bed decently early that night. We were all pretty beat.

We got up and did it all over again the next day. We rode all the rides we liked best again.

I don't know if you've ever looked at the Rock It roller coaster, but that thing is straight up. I didn't like that. It felt like you were going to fall out backwards. The rest of the ride was awesome though!

That afternoon we went and sat by the pool and rested for a bit because at 6:30 Halloween Horror Nights started.

We got express passes, and it was SO worth it. We got in way faster than most people and we could skip the 2 hour lines in favour of 20 minute ones.

I think my favourite haunted house was the 25 Year Anniversary one. It has monsters/bad guys from the last 25 years of Universal movies/TV. That one had weeping angels. Scary!!!! And clowns! And...santa. Yeah.

In between each haunted house were scare zones, which were the most scary to me, because I kept trying to see the people dressed up and wasn't focused enough to see everyone, so they easily jumped up and scared me. One of the areas was really nicely done with floating pumpkins and hay stacks but I couldn't get pictures because people kept scaring me. There were SO many people there, it's easy to jump out at someone!

By the end of the night (1 AM) I was so tired that I didn't even care if they jumped out. I was so ready for bed. Going pretty much straight from 6 AM until 1 AM the next day (38 000 steps on the Fitbit!) and I was done.

We had to get up at 4:30 to get our shuttle to the airport, so we got 3 hours of sleep before we flew home. It was a LOOOONG day. I kept thinking "I'm too old for this" but I'm not. This is the time when I SHOULD be doing this! So I shall!

I've got another crazy adventure planned for March! Can't wait to tell you all about it!

Weigh in Wednesday

Ahhhh! It's Wednesday again! Grab a button and link up with some lovely ladies on the journey to health and fitness!

Weigh-in Wednesday!

I feel like this week has been one HOT MESS. I've tried to meal plan and prep and every day it's been a disaster. I have had migraines and worked 12 hour shifts, and it's been Thanksgiving (Canada!), and I just can't seem to get it together. I feel like it's hard to 'get it together' right after Thanksgiving. I think everyone is in a turkey coma and can't seem to recall what good eating is like anymore.

Actually, Thanksgiving wasn't that bad. I had lots of veggies, a small bit of gravy and cranberry jelly. But my downfall was, and always is, dessert. I had cheesecake. It was divine. I'm not sorry.

Anyway, I've felt like a sack of crap for a few days, and can't seem to get my head on straight. I don't know if I've got a cold or if it's just working a lot and not sleeping well.

Needless to say, I'm not getting on the scale today, but I AM going to do my best to eat healthy and get my head back where it needs to be. I have today's shift left, then a night on Friday then a couple days off. I work all week next week though, but just 8 hour shifts, so not too bad. I can usually plan those out really well. I think it all may have gone better if I had had a day between Thanksgiving and work that I could have gone to the store and meal prepped. However, the store was closed and I did my best.

I hope that everyone else had a better week than I did! Link up below and let us know!

Weigh in Wednesday

Good morning everyone! It's that time agian! Grab a button and link up with some lovely health and fitness bloggers!

Weigh-in Wednesday!

After an amazing weekend in Florida, I'm happy to report I only gained 2.4 lbs, putting me at 168.2. That's pretty great if you ask me, seeing as we ate whatever, whenever. We had ice cream every single day. It was an awesome vacation. I'll write about it soon, I promise.

I didn't get any official exercise while on vacation, but we got 28 000 steps on Saturday and 38 000 steps on Sunday. Not bad, eh? I was so tired on Sunday  night, that I could barely drag my feet around the park.

Not that the steps would ever make up for what we ate, but it can't have hurt. My feet are still sore!

Here's a helpful hint. If the nachos you're ordering are 15$, they're probably huge. Look around at what other people have first. I learned the hard way. Those nachos were massive. I ate a lot of them, but not even half I wouldn't say. Casey helped.

Monstrous Nachos
PS. I was soaking wet in that photo. We did the two water rides and I got absolutely soaked. Had to go back to the hotel and change after we ate, as I didn't dry off at all.

All in all, we had an amazing vacation. Casey asked me what my goal was to gain for the trip. I told him 10 lbs, that way I wouldn't be disappointed either way. Haha.

My next challenge group for the 21 Day Fix started today, so I'm super excited about that. Last month's group went REALLY well for everyone. So proud of my challengers!
